Chandigarh, 25 August:  Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali on Friday announced the launch of robot-assisted kidney transplantation. Talking to media , former PGI nephro head and senior director, kidney transplant and nephrology at Max Dr. Vinay Sakhuja  said,“Our endeavour is to provide excellent care to our patients. And we are proud to launch such advanced and revolutionary technology. This allows us to empower patients with access to quality healthcare services.”
According to Dr. Jagdish Sethi, associate director and chief transplant surgeon,“Robot replicates the surgeon’s hand movements to perform surgeries with precision and more control while doing complex procedures. It is especially useful when the operative field is deep and narrow and requires fine dissection and micro-suturing. Minimal invasive surgery helps in reducing blood loss, hospital stays, pain, postoperative complication rate, recovery time and surgical scars.”
“Robotic surgery in kidney transplant offers many benefits like decreased chances of complications as compared to open surgery, especially in immune-compromised and end-stage renal disease patients undergoing kidney transplants. It is also safer and more efficacious for obese patients who are otherwise not recommended for transplants, maintained Dr. Munish Chauhan associate director nephrology and kidney transplant.
Dr Manish Singla senior consultant nephrology and kidney transplant said, “Minimally invasive surgery has been enhanced by the introduction of robots, which has a well-established role across several surgical specialities. Robot-assisted surgeries have significantly improved the management of intra-operative complications, making the procedure safer and more efficient.”
At Max Hospital, Mohali by combining surgical expertise with state-of-the-art robotics, this innovative approach offers superior precision, faster recovery with minimum morbidity and pain, and improved quality of life for patients. And complex procedures such as transplantations can be performed with minimal chances of developing any complications. Robotic kidney surgery is truly pioneering precision and improving patient well-being.
