Chandigarh, September 24, 2026: Bhagwat Mission Parivar Chandigarh will organise the week-long Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran Katha during Pitru Paksha from September 26 to October 2 at the Exhibition Ground, Sector 34, Chandigarh. The Katha will be held daily from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Former Mayor and President of Bhagwat Mission Parivar Chandigarh, Devesh Moudgil, said that renowned Katha Vyas Acharya Shri Mridul Krishna Goswami will deliver the discourses during the grand religious event.
Moudgil said that the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha is not merely a religious event but a divine yajna of knowledge that provides spiritual direction to human life. Organised during Pitru Paksha, the Katha will serve as a medium to spread the values of reverence and gratitude towards ancestors, as well as the values of Sanatan culture, among the people.
Giving details of the seven-day programme, Moudgil said that the first day will feature Mangalacharan and Bhagwat Mahatmya, while the second day will cover the arrival of Shukdev and the story of Lord Kapil. The third day will feature the stories of Sati and Dhruv, while the fourth day will include Vaman Avatar, the birth of Lord Krishna and Nandotsav. On the fifth day, the Katha will feature Makhan Chori and Giriraj Puja, while the sixth day will include the wedding of Lord Krishna and Rukmini and Maharasa. On the seventh and concluding day, the story of Sudama and Phool Holi will be narrated. A large number of devotees and followers from India and abroad are expected to participate in the Katha.
Moudgil said that several revered saints will grace the Katha and bless the devotees. These include Shri Shri 1008 Mahatma Budhnath Ji Maharaj, Peethadhish, Mandir Shri Baba Balak Nath Maa Vaishno Gufa, Sector 31-B, Chandigarh; Kamli Mata Ji, Mahamandaleshwar, International Kinnar Akhara, Chandigarh; Sant Preetpal Singh Ji Maharaj, Gurdwara Gurusagar Sahib; Rashtriya Sant Baba Harjit Singh Rasulpur, Ayodhya Langar Wale; Swami Shri Krishnanand Ji Maharaj “Bhuri Wale”, President, Gauseva Mission; Jagadguru Shri Ramanandacharya Shri 108 Vikas Das Ji Maharaj; Pragat Guru Hari Nirmal Swami Ji Maharaj; Swami Dr Ramanik Krishna Ji Maharaj; Shri Bal Krishna Ji Maharaj from Una, Himachal Pradesh; and renowned bhajan singer Shri Kanhaiya Mittal.
