Chandigarh, October 17, 2023: Golu Pahlwan’s (wrestler's) daughter Purvi Sharma has brought glory to her country, state, parents and village Mullanpur Garibdas by winning the bronze medal by the dint of her brilliant performance in wrestling during the 67th National School Games 2023-24.
Sharing information about this achievement, Golu Pehalwan said that under 14 and 17 girls and boys games were held from 3rd October to 8th October in Samsabad, Koopal, wherein Purvi Sharma, playing on behalf of Chitkara International School, Chandigarh, won the bronze medal. Purvi Sharma played wrestling matches in the category of 62kg under 14 wherein she achieved this position by winning various matches.
He also said that it is a huge achievement for us that this promising daughter of our akharha (wrestling ring or arena) has performed in the National Games which creates passion for sports in other children as well.
Sharing his views on this occasion, Mr. Ravi Sharma Das Associate also congratulated his promising niece on this achievement and said that our father Mr. Gurdas Mall Mullanpur Garibdas dreamt of his children earning great achievements in the Olympic Games, and that dream is coming true as our daughter is taking giant steps in this direction. He said that apart from our daughter, other girls are also performing well by the virue of their training in this akharha.
We appeal to more youngsters to get involved in sports and studies as much as possible and stay away from drugs. We hope that this promising daughter of our family will create her own identity like her father and uncle.
On this occasion, Mr. Arvind Puri, Chairman Puri Trust, Shingara Singh Ratwara Sahib, Sher Singh Mullanpur Garibdas, Jagtar Singh Sohi Hoshiarpur, Himanshu Puri and other renowned personalities of the area congratulated Golu Pehalwan's talented daughter Purvi Sharma. To elaborate, many boys and girls from nearby villages come to Golu Pehelwan's akharha to learn wrestling.
Apart from this, famous wrestlers like Sikandar Sheikh, Mirza Iran, Reza Iran, Jaspuran Singh practice in the akharha of Golu Pehalwan and also train their fellow wrestlers. Nowadays, there is no wrestling match in Punjab wherein Golu Pahalwan is not mentioned. On behalf of our team, we also congratulate Purvi Sharma on this achievement.
