Singer-actor Ninja and video director Aman B2 Gether plant 800 trees in Mohali ahead of Earth Day

Mohali, April 23 : On Saturday, renowned Punjabi singer and actor Ninja joined hands with Roundglass Foundation to plant 800 trees in Kurari village, Mohali, to celebrate Earth Day. Under The Billion Tree Programme, Roundglass Foundation is on a mission to plant 1 billion trees in Punjab to fight climate change, recharge groundwater, and restore biodiversity while generating livelihoods.  Ninja, known for his chartbuster songs and films, said he identified with the cause of mindful tree plantation and acknowledged its relevance to the environment. “We need to focus on Punjab’s environmental distress and support efforts like The Billion Tree Project to bring back what’s lost while ensuring a greener and more sustainable future for all,” said Ninja.  He was accompanied by popular music video director Aman Dhillon of B2 Gether Pros. Dhillon, who has worked with artists like Ninja, Badshah, and Diljit Dosanjh, also planted trees in Kurari and emphasised the importance of such initiatives for Punjab’s environment and biodiversity.  Over the past six years, more than 3 million native treeshave been planted under Roundglass Foundation’s The Billion Tree Project. These trees have flourished into thriving ecosystems, teeming with birds, butterflies, insects, and other lifeforms crucial to Punjab’s biodiversity. In a state where greeneryhas shrunk dramatically over the last 50 years, just 3.67% of Punjab’s area is under tree cover—planting over 3 million trees can go a long way in improving the state’s air, water, and soil. The 3 million-plus trees planted under TBTP have captured or sequestered about 36,000 tons of carbon, equivalent to removing 7,609 petrol vehicles from the road!
