NGO Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation organizes community kitchen

Panchkula, June 23: Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Shree Shyam Karuna Foundation held its   119th 'Ann Bhandara' or Community Kitchen  in the Industrial Area, Phase 1, here.  The founder of the NGO and social worker, Amitabh Rungta said that serving  food to the needy is considered the most supreme of all social initiatives, so individuals and organizations should come forward to hold community kitchens.Rungta further said that  due to the intense summer heat, drinking  cool and fresh water is like  consuming amrit , or nectar. He said that this is life-giving. For this reason Rungta stressed on the need to offer refrigerated drinking water  along with food at community  kitchens put up for the benefit of the passers-by.

Rungta said that he is happy that  this summer, social workers are doing yeoman's service for humanity by serving 'chabeel' - a cool sweetened beverage made by  mixing water or milk with rose syrup to the thirsty travelers. This is commendable work, he said.

The NGO's volunteers Anupama Rungta, Chaitanya Rungta, Pragati, Sukhpal Singh, Suresh Jangra helped in organising the  'bhandara'.
