Chandigarh, July 13, 2026: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sanjay Tandon, accompanied by his wife Priya Tandon, visited some of Punjab's most revered religious and historical sites during his visit to Amritsar and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, well-being and welfare of the nation and society.
Commencing his spiritual visit, Tandon,  who is also Member of BJP's  National Council  and  Co-Incharge, of BJP’s Himachal Pradesh affairs, paid obeisance at the world-renowned Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) and sought the blessings of Guru Maharaj. On the occasion, he prayed for communal harmony, peace, prosperity and the welfare of humanity.

“Sri Harmandir Sahib is a timeless symbol of selfless service, dedication, equality and spiritual consciousness. Every devotee who visits this sacred shrine experiences inner peace and a profound sense of spiritual fulfilment," Tandon said in a statement.

Later, he visited Sri Durgiana Temple, where he offered prayers to Goddess Durga. Describing the temple as one of the most prominent Shakti Peeths of North India, he highlighted its magnificent architecture and spiritual significance.

"The Sri Durgiana Temple occupies a special place among the revered centres of faith in North India. I prayed to Maa Durga for the nation's continued progress, the welfare of society, and the happiness, good health and prosperity of every citizen," he said.

Tandon also paid his respects at the ancient Bade Hanuman Temple located within the Durgiana Temple complex. He visited the sacred banyan tree associated with the traditional belief that Lord Hanuman was tied at this very spot by Lav and Kush during the Treta Yuga.

“Such sacred and historic places are living symbols of our Sanatan culture, rich religious heritage and enduring faith. They inspire future generations to remain connected with their cultural roots and preserve our civilizational values," Tandon remarked.

Emphasising the broader significance of pilgrimage, Tandon said that visits to religious places are not merely acts of worship but also meaningful opportunities to connect with India's spiritual traditions, cultural heritage and the values of social harmony.

"I pray for the happiness, peace and prosperity of every Indian and for the successful realisation of the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Our spiritual heritage continues to inspire us to work collectively for a stronger, more harmonious and progressive nation," he added.
