Blood Donation & Health Camp to be Held to Honour the Legacy of Motorsport Icon Late Hari Singh

Chandigarh, July 17, 2026: Paying tribute to the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of legendary motorsport icon Late Hari Singh, fondly remembered as "The Gypsy King" and "The Flying Sikh," the Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation (WCCWF), in collaboration with leading healthcare institutions, will organise a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp, Health Talk, and Free Eye Check-Up Camp on Saturday, 18 July 2026, from 9:00 AM onwards at Ramgarhia Bhawan, Sector 27, Chandigarh.

Sharing his thoughts, Mivan Singh, son of Late Hari Singh, said: "My father believed in courage, commitment, and giving one's best in every walk of life. We are deeply honoured that his memory is being celebrated through a cause that has the power to save lives. Blood donation is one of the greatest gifts a person can offer, and I hope this initiative inspires many people to come forward and make a meaningful difference to someone in need."

Kamaljeet Singh, General Secretary, Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation (WCCWF), said, "We warmly invite residents of the Tricity, educational institutions, corporate organisations, NGOs, youth groups, and social volunteers to join us in this noble initiative. Every blood donor becomes a lifesaver, and together we can pay the finest tribute to the legacy of Late Hari Singh by serving humanity and strengthening our spirit of community."

The initiative commemorates the life of a sporting legend whose courage, determination, and spirit inspired generations. By dedicating this humanitarian programme to his memory, the organisers seek to transform his legacy into a mission of saving lives through voluntary blood donation while promoting preventive healthcare and eye health awareness in the community.

The blood donation drive comes at a time when blood banks often experience increased demand during the summer months. It aims to encourage citizens to embrace voluntary blood donation as a life-saving social responsibility and to foster a culture of compassion and community service.

The blood donation camp will be conducted by the expert medical team of the Tata Memorial Centre (Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre), ensuring a safe, hygienic, and donor-friendly experience. Medical support for the event will also be provided by Grecian Hospital, Mirchia's Laser Eye Clinic, Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, and other healthcare professionals.

The programme is being supported by Ramgarhia Society, Chandigarh, the Indian Red Cross Society (Punjab State Branch), and the Women and Child Care Welfare Foundation.

Every voluntary blood donor will receive a Certificate of Appreciation, healthy refreshments, and access to a free health consultation and eye check-up.
