Chandigarh,Nov.10; Under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority, New Delhi and under the able and dynamic guidance of Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Judge, High Court of Punjab & Haryana and Executive Chairperson, State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, an Exclusive Legal Services Camp for women was organized in Community Centre, Vikas Nagar, Chandigarh, on the occasion of National Legal Services Day i.e. 9th November 2021. The program was a part of ‘Pan India Legal Awareness & Outreach Campaign’ as part of ‘Bharat ka Amrit Mahatosav’ has also been going on since 2nd October 2021 to 14th November 2021.
Justice Ritu Bahri visited all the stalls and interacted with the staff and public present there. Speaking at the occasion Justice Ritu Bahri said that she was happy to observe that so many women were provided services at the doorstep of the public.
Sh. Gurbir Singh, ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, Sh. Puneesh Jindia, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority Chandigarh said that the Authority aims at making the services offered by the Legal Services Authority more approachable, accessible and people friendly. Sh. Ashok Kumar Mann, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Chandigarh thanked the people of Vikas Nagar, Village Mauli and Mauli Jagran for coming in such large numbers to attend the camp. He also spokes about the importance of such community initiatives for ensuring the slogan of "Access to Justice for All" that is the motto of the Legal Services Authority.
The camp saw participation from almost 3000 persons. The camp was attended by UIDAI (Aadhaar), Social Welfare Department, Education department, Labour department, Health department, Election department, Child Helpline, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Cyber Crime Unit, Anti Human Trafficking Unit and Traffic Unit of Chandigarh Police, Fire and Emergency Services, , Chandigarh State Aids Control Society, District Child Protection Unit, Transgender Welfare Board, Food & Supply department, Medical Team of GMH Sector-16, Chandigarh participated in this camp and informed the general public about various schemes of their departments. On the spot registration and other facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.
The Swayam team of Chandigarh Police gave various tips & techniques on self-defence for motivating young girls to take self defence training. A free health camp was also organized with the help of specialist doctors from GMSH, Sector-16, Chandigarh in which they were distributed free medicines to the needy. Don Bosco Navjeen Society also provided free medications to the needy children and spread awareness about child healthcare.
Aadhaar cards, Voter cards, Labour cards of persons were made or corrected in the camp. Number of persons also applied for various pension/loan schemes of Social Welfare Department. Children/students from Government Model High School, Chandigarh also presented various informative performances such as dance, poems, plays on the theme of Women empowerment and child safety.
Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey, Area Counsellor, Vikas Nagar and Sh. Ravinder Billa, Chairman of Chandigarh Labour Cell have distributed wheel chairs, walkers, food packets etc. to the needy and disabled persons.
15 Labour Cards were distributed during the camp, 6 Fixed deposit Rs. 25,000/- each were given to the girl child by the Labour Department, and 6 death claims of Rs.4,00,000/- each were also given by the Labour Department in the Camp.
Sh. Ashok Kumar Mann, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh thanked all the departments who have provided free services/assistances to the general masses/needy along with all the officials, Panel Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers of the SLSA and DLSA who put in huge efforts to make the legal aid camp a success.
