Chandigarh,Nov,13:As a part of ‘No Plastic’ campaign on single use plastics, the College Environment society -‘HARITIMA’ conducted a ‘Waste to wealth’ workshop on making pots out of plastic waste, a perfect way to recycle an empty plastic bottle into something useful and creative. This green initiative can help prevent plastic bottles landing in garbage cans and also promote aesthetic value in our surroundings. It was a unique way to sensitize the students to reduce and recycle towards plastic waste. About 40
students in two batches participated in the workshop to create planters. These planters are easy to maintain and not messy. All one needs to create them is an empty plastic bottle which is not crushed, a pair of scissors, mixture of sand and soil and a small sapling or seedling of succulent plants that thrive in these easily. The principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the Environment society in organizing the event and was of the opinion that similar workshops on waste management be organized to create awareness among youth about reusing and recycling the waste generated daily.
