Chandigarh, 18th August, 2026:* Raseel Gujral Art Legacy (RGAL), in association with the Department of Posts, Government of India, released a commemorative Postage Stamp marking the birth centenary of Padma Vibhushan Satish Gujral, painter, sculptor, muralist, architect and writer, and one of the most distinguished figures in post-Independence Indian art. The stamp was unveiled by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, at a ceremony held at Bikaner House, New Delhi.
The occasion brought together family, collectors, artists, key opinion leaders, and members of the press to celebrate an artist whose seven-decade career helped shape India's modern visual and architectural language. Hosted by Navin Ansal and Raseel Gujral Ansal, the event also marked the opening of a curated public exhibition of rare, limited-edition Satish Gujral Centenary Stamp Collectibles at Bikaner House from 4th to 9th August, created to commemorate the artist's birth centenary.
The artwork chosen for the stamp is drawn from a rare self-portrait Gujral painted circa 2010, one of the only four self-portraits created across his entire career. The painting, held in the private collection of Raseel Gujral Ansal, was gifted by Satish and Kiran Gujral to Navin Ansal and Raseel Gujral Ansal and has remained a treasured family possession since. Rendered in a striking photorealistic black-and-white treatment of the artist's face against a fully coloured composition, the portrait carries an intimate, cinematic quality; a fitting image for a stamp intended as both a national honor and a personal tribute.
Alongside the official stamp release, RGAL unveiled a series of limited-edition Satish Gujral Centenary Stamp Collectibles, conceived around the number 25 in tribute to 25 December, Gujral's birth date. The Centenary Edition features 25 commemorative stamps in a framed collectible, while the Centenary Master Edition, the definitive release marking his hundredth birth year, houses 100 commemorative stamps. Each framed edition is available in a choice of colourways and can be purchased from Arzaani Atelier Prive at Bikaner House. The commemorative postage stamp will also be available through 72 Philately Bureaux across India, making it accessible to philately collectors and enthusiasts nationwide.
