Mohali, September 15: Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal of Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali inaugurated a pediatric oncology & haematology clinic at Max Hospital, Mohali today. The clinic will remain open on Monday, Thursday and Friday every week from 9am to 4pm.
Dr. Krutika Goel, associate consultant pediatric oncology said that as we celebrate September as Global Childhood Cancer Awareness month the clinic will be a significant stride towards advancing pediatric healthcare in the region.
It will offer an array of critical services like chemotherapy day care, PET-CT, Paediatric ICU, surgical oncology and radiation oncology, she informed.
She further said that children's cancers are markedly distinct from their adult counterparts, necessitating a dedicated approach. These encompass the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as leukemias, lymphomas, brain tumors, neuroblastoma, wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, retinoblastoma, and bone cancers.
Our vision is to cater to all children with cancers as well as blood disorders like complicated anemias, thalassemias, immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and bleeding disorders like hemophilias, Dr Goel informed.
Dr Sachin Gupta director medical oncology also underscored the importance of prompt consultation with the clinic's dedicated medical team.
