Chandigarh, 20th May 2025: The presence of land mafia in Zirakpur has again come to light. Senior citizens — Bhupinder Paul Singh and Komaljit Kaur through their son Sanjit Singh Paul have issued a strong rebuttal against attempts by one Jasdev Singh and his wife Sarabjit Kaur, to use unlawful means to show ‘Sunshine Gardens’ in Zirakpur as their property although the same is owned by the senior citizens.
Sanjit Singh Paul addressed the media at Chandigarh to set the record straight. Sanjit said, “Jasdev Singh had convened a press conference to mislead the media for personal and unlawful gain, but when we also organised a press meet to bring the truth in the matter to the fore, Jasdev Singh cancelled his press meet in a hurry. We question the cancellation, and feel that he cancelled the press conference to avoid answering media’s pointed questions after our press meet. He seems to have come to know that we will be presenting court orders against him and therefore he chickened out at the last moment.”
“He may keep giving any reason for cancellation but the fact remains that there was no answer he had to our retort,” added Sanjit.
Sanjit informed the media that Jasdev has self-styled himself as ‘The Property Operator of Sunshine Gardens Resort’ without he having any legitimate claim on this property. “The senior citizens –my parents, through me have provided media with the judgments passed by the courts to counter the nefarious claim by Jasdev,” said Sanjit.
Sanjit Singh Paul presented the chronological events related to the Court proceedings as follows:
He said that Jasdev Singh and his wife –Sarabjit Kaur filed Civil Suit No. 406 of 2025 against the aforementioned senior citizens. The Court of Ms. Renika Gera, Civil Judge (Junior Division), Derabassi, refused to grant any ad-interim injunction to the plaintiffs on 23rd April 2025.
An appeal against this decision — Civil Misc. Appeal No. 50 of 2025 — was filed by Jasdev Singh and his wife which was dismissed with costs by Shri T.P.S. Randhawa, Learned Additional District Judge, SAS Nagar, on 7th May, 2025.
The Appellate Court made strong observations, including: “There is no evidence on record that possession of the premises was ever given to the appellants. Even the documents submitted do not support their claim. Relief of injunction is discretionary and equitable — the party seeking equity must come with clean hands. The appeal stands dismissed with costs.”
Despite these clear judicial findings, Jasdev Singh has continued to file complaints with the police and now seeks to manipulate public opinion by omitting crucial legal facts. This, according to the affected senior citizens, is a blatant attempt to bypass the due process of law and exert undue pressure upon the police authorities, thereby misleading the press and the public.
It is so unfortunate that my parents who are in the twilight of their lives despite being the rightful owners of Sunshine Gardens are often being stopped from even entering their property.
“This is a cry for Justice from Senior Citizens being harassed despite standing on strong legal ground,” said Sanjit Singh Paul on behalf of the senior citizens. Sanjit Singh Paul said further, “We urge members of the press to uphold journalistic integrity and verify facts before allowing their platforms to be used for spreading misinformation.”
