CRPF Commandant Kamal Sisodiya Honoured by Punjab Governor on International Women’s Day

Chandigarh:On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, Smt. Kamal Sisodiya, Commandant in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was honoured with the Women Achiever Award 2026 by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, during a special programme organised by the Department of Social Welfare and Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration. 
This prestigious honour was conferred upon Commandant Kamal Sisodiya in recognition of her exceptional contribution towards women empowerment, social welfare and community development, alongside her distinguished service of nearly 25 years in the CRPF. She also holds the distinction of being the first woman Commandant of the 13 Battalion CRPF since its raising in 1962, marking a significant milestone in the battalion’s history.
During the Women’s Day celebrations of 2026, Commandant Sisodiya received multiple recognitions for her inspiring work. Chandigarh University honoured her with the Iron Lady Award 2026, recognising her courage, leadership and dedication to nation building. She was also felicitated by Smt. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of the Chief Minister of Punjab Sh. Bhagwant Mann, acknowledging her contribution to social service and women empowerment.
In another recognition on the same occasion, she was presented with the Swadesha Chopra Nari Shakti Samaj Seva Award 2026 by Gyan Sthal Mandir Seva Society (Regd.) for her sustained efforts in promoting women’s dignity, health awareness and hygiene initiatives, including sanitary awareness campaigns among women and young girls.
Apart from performing her demanding responsibilities in the security forces, Commandant Sisodiya has continuously worked for the upliftment of women, children and underprivileged sections of society. She has organised skill development programmes for women, helping many become self-reliant and financially independent.
She is widely respected as a highly inspiring motivational speaker, conducting sessions in schools, colleges and institutions, where she motivates youth towards discipline, leadership, patriotism and positive thinking, while encouraging young girls to pursue their aspirations with confidence and courage.
Commandant Sisodiya has also been actively involved in awareness campaigns on women’s rights, health and education, and frequently conducts meditation and mental wellness sessions aimed at strengthening emotional well-being. Her social initiatives extend to supporting differently-abled individuals, orphaned children and elderly citizens, and during her postings in remote areas she worked for the upliftment of tribal women through education, skill development and self-reliance.
An author committed to youth empowerment, she has written a very useful book titled “Skill India Mission – A Practical Handbook.”
Over the years, her dedication to social causes and women empowerment has been recognised with several honours, including the Veerangana Samman, Mahatma Gandhi Seva Award, Jodhabai Nari Shakti Puraskar, Maharani Padmini Child Welfare Award, Women of Worth Award, Maharaja Hari Singh Lifetime Achievement Award, and Wonder Women Award, among others.
With her inspiring journey as a CRPF officer, social welfare worker, author and motivational speaker, Commandant Kamal Sisodiya continues to emerge as a powerful symbol of women empowerment, leadership and national service, inspiring countless young women and youth across the country.
