Inauguration of a World Class Institute for the Blind in Mohali

LMohali: On Monday 11th December, NAB Institute for the Blind and Eye Care Center was inaugurated in Mohali district as a big gift for the disabled.  India's renowned bankers Shri Biswa Ketan Das, CEO, Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) and Shri Sanjay Prakash, MD, SBI Foundation (SBIF) personally visited Mohali for its inauguration.  This institute has been built with the help of these two organizations.
On this occasion, HOD of PGI Advanced Eye Center Dr. SS Pandav was also present and a free eye check-up camp was also organized in association with PGI, in which eye check-up of students of government schools was done.  Those 30 students of Sialba Majri and Khizrabad govt schools who had their eye check up in the last eye camp were presented with spectacles.
Established on Siswa Kurali Road in Majri Block, Chandpur, this institute is equipped with facilities like educational, vocational training, rehabilitation and computer training for the disabled and free eye care for the general public in Punjab and occupational therapy for the disabled.
NAB Hony President Vinod Chadha said that this organization has been working for the blind in India for the last 72 years.  It was founded in Mumbai in 1952 and is now India's largest disability sector NGO with its presence in 28 states.  NAB has been providing free services in every field of Blind Welfare in Punjab including Chandigarh for the last 32 years.  In this institute, arrangements have been made for eye checkup for the people of Punjab.  Occupational therapy centre for persons with autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and multiple disabilities has also been established. He further said that it is a matter of pride that two eminent bankers from IIBF and SBIF graced the occasion. Sanjay Prakash highly appreciated the blind welfare activities of NAB and assured to contribute further. Biswa Ketan Das CEO, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance encouraged the morale of the teachers and workers of the institute.
With the coming of this institute, there will be a huge improvement in the system of educational, vocational training and advanced IT of the disabled people of Punjab.
