Chandigarh:The Department of History, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh organized an online webinar on the topic “Legacy of Freedom and Partition” on November 2, 2021 under the auspices of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Professor Sucheta Mahajan from Centre for Historical Studies School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Lal Nehru University, New Delhi graced the event with her presence as the Resource Person for the webinar. Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma extended a warm welcome to the resource person.
She talked about how the partition had resulted in the transition of India from the colonial era to the postmodern one. The speaker also emphasized on the fact that the legacy of partition is the commitment to the values of democracy and upholding unity in diversity. Professor Sucheta Mahajan touched upon various facets of Freedom and the resultant partition. The event was a great success and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. M. Pramod, Head of the Department. The event was attended by as many as 200 participants.
