Chandigarh Police achieved major success

Chandigarh,Oct,22;Chandigarh Police achieved major success by cracking “MV theft cases” by arresting 03 accused and recovered 27 motorcycles by the special team of Police Station-36 Chandigarh.

In view of recent reporting of theft of two wheelers in Chandigarh, a team under the supervision of Ms. Shruti Arora, IPS,

ASP/South, led by Insp. Maninder Singh, SHO/36 was constituted to develop the information about the gang behind it. The team started developing the information through human and technical intelligence. The efforts of the team yielded result. As per the developed secret information, on 18.10.21, a trap was laid down in Sector 42, where 02 suspects with a splendor motorcycle were rounded up. On verification, a motorcycle found stolen from Sector 42 in Case FIR No. 195 dt 18.10.21 u/s 379 IPC PS 36, Chandigarh, was recovered.

Accused arrested: -

1) Sharanjeet Singh S/o Satnam Singh R/o # 99, W no. 11, Near Panjhlasha Chowk, Naraingarh, Distt. Ambala HR Age-23 yrs & 

2) Gurveer Singh S/o Balwinder Singh R/o Village Shampur, Distt. Mohali Pb. Age- 22 yrs.

The accused were arrested and their 04 days police custody remand was obtained from court. During interrogation, they admitted to have stolen a many Splendor motorcycles from various parts of Tri-city, especially from Chandigarh. During further interrogation, they confessed that they in connivance with each other, used to steal the motorcycles from parking areas. Some motorcycles were parked by them and some were supplied to their associate named Mandeep Singh of Pinjore, HR at a low price, who further sold the said stolen motorcycles with fake number plates to rural areas by saying that these motorcycles are default against the payments to the auto financers. 

Accordingly, their remaining associate (accused No. 3) Mandeep Singh S/o Jaspal Singh R/o Bitna Road, Pinjore, Distt. Panchkula HR. Age-22 yrs was also arrested on 20.10.21 and obtained 01 day police remand from the court.

Modus Operandi: 

During interrogation, accused Sharanjeet Singh disclosed that he used to come Chandigarh on the false pretext of taking IELTS coaching. Aspiration of a luxurious life led to his committing thefts.

Accused Gurveer Singh @ Garry is drug addict and needed money to purchase drugs, he started committing thefts in connivance with Sharanjeet Singh.

Accused Mandeep Singh used to buy stolen motorcycles from them at low costs and further sold them at a good profit to meet his day to day expenditures as well as lavish life.

Recovery: -

Total 27 Motorcycles (26 splendors & 01 Passion) were recovered from the accused. With the arrest of accused, total 15 cases (i.e. 11 cases of Chandigarh & 04 cases of Panchkula) have been worked out and remaining 12 vehicles are being verified. The details of worked out cases is as under: -

Previous Criminal History: Nil  

Accused are on police custody remand and today, they will be produced before the court.
