Table Tennis Match between Special Athletes and Unified Partners

 Chandigarh, May 19: Special Olympics Bharat - Chandigarh Chapter organized a 'Unified Champion' sports event at Bhawan Vidyalaya Complex, Sector 27 here today.  Table tennis matches were conducted between the special athletes and the unified partners during the event.  During this event, table tennis matches were organized by forming teams of special athletes and unified partners from different schools of Chandigarh.  Neelu Sarin, the Area Director of Special Olympics Bharat-Chandigarh Chapter, which is organizing this event, said that since 1994, various sports competitions are being organized by their organization among special athletes, but this time, it is a first-of-its-kind special event.  This event is being organized by forming teams of athletes and unified partners. She said that on this occasion, 20 special athletes and unified partners from different schools and other educational institutions of tricity, Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali participated in table tennis matches and showed their sportsmanship spirit. She  said that the purpose of this event was to increase the spirit of sportsmanship and mutual coordination among the Unified Partners by boosting the morale of the special athletes.  Participation certificates were distributed to all the special athletes and unified partners participating in the table tennis matches and refreshments were also arranged for all.  This first of its kind event was supported by coaches Balbir Singh Virdi, Sheetal Negi, Sapna Rana, Pradeep Dogra, Gurpreet, Munish, Anuradha and Madam Geeta Bajaj and Vidya Madam from Bhawan Vidyalaya.  The special athletes and unified partners of Bhavan Vidyalaya Sector 27, Grid Sector 31, DAV School Sector 8, Delhi Public School Sector 40 and Sports Complex Sector 34 participated in these table tennis matches.
