Large tumour removed via complex skull base approach at Ivy Hospital

Chandigarh, February 22: A large skull based tumour was operated via complex skull base approach at Ivy Hospital, Mohali by Dr. Vineet Saggar recently.

The patient was seen by multiple neurosurgeons in Punjab and then referred to Dr. Vineet Saggar.

Giving details during a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club here on Wednesday, Dr Vineet Saggar, Head of Neuro Interventional and Endovascular Neurosurgery at Ivy Hospital , Mohali said that the 56 year old female, presented to us with swelling on the eyeball on the right side.

He further said that the MRI revealed a large tumour extended from the nose going into the brain. Such tumours require complex skull base surgical maneuvers for successful removal.

Dr Saggar performed an extended skull-base neurosurgery which resulted in the removal of a large tumour of both brain as well as the nose in the same setting. The patient made a successful recovery after the procedure.

Such skull base tumours are rare and require complex surgical maneuvers; for successful removal informed Dr. Vineet. He has performed more than 200 such skull base surgeries at Ivy Hospital in the past 10 years.
