Chandigarh, August 1, 2025: In a major boost to the sporting ecosystem of the tricity region, Dikshant Group of Schools, in collaboration with Alpha Sports Management - a leading grassroots talent promotion and sport-infrastructure organisation, today announced the start of a high-performance, multi-sport training facility at Dikshant International School, Dera Bassi. The academy is the result of a shared vision between Mitul Dikshit, Chairman of Dikshant Group of Schools & Sumit Prakash, Founder-Director of Alpha Sports Management. Both are alumni of the prestigious Scindia School in Gwalior. Notably, Sumit Prakash’s passion for sports has driven him to develop sports infrastructure in multiple cities across India and overseas. This has culminated in this new initiative that promises to redefine grassroots sports training in the region.
In a press meet held at the Press Club here, Mitul Dikshit and Sumit Prakash, shared details of the ambitious project that aims to offer world-class training in cricket, football, tennis, shooting, archery, swimming, and basketball
Mitul Dikshit, known for running some of the most successful schools in tricity’s Zirakpur and now Dera Bassi, said, “At Dikshant, we believe in holistic development. Our partnership with Alpha Sports allows us to extend top-class sporting infrastructure to students who aspire to compete at the highest level in India and overseas.”
“Tricity has consistently produced promising talent across sports. What it lacked was an organized ecosystem that not only provides professional training but also offers a clear pathway to elite competitions, nationally and internationally. That’s the gap we’re aiming to fill,” said Sumit Prakash, who is a well-known sports entrepreneur of India.
Sumit Prakash said, “Alpha Sports is positioned uniquely and is result driven due to collaborations we have with top-tier organisations.”
“We currently work with Delhi Capitals for cricket, Bengaluru FC for football including a 100 percent scholarship programme for talented players at its Bellary centre, India Khelo Football, which sponsors top players for European football tours, DRB Foundation for archery run by Olympians Dola and Rahul Banerjee, and Olympian Prakash Nanjappa for shooting,” added Prakash.
It is pertinent to mention that Alpha Sports, headquartered in Patna, has already established a strong presence across India and globally, with operations in Canada, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Its unique model allows trainees opportunities to train and play with international teams, significantly enhancing their exposure and experience.
Additionally, Alpha’s women athletes have made it to camps organized by the Women’s Premier League (WPL) under the mentorship of Delhi Capitals, a testament to the institution’s commitment to excellence and inclusivity.
The academy offers daily training, workshops, sports tours n exchange programs, sports counselling, and regular exposure to the best coaches and athletes — creating what the founders describe as a ‘complete sports set-up’.
The multi-sport academy is open to school students and aspiring athletes from across the tricity.
