Chandigarh, August 26, 2025: GB Legends, one of the most prominent teams in the Chandigarh Golf League (CGL), has taken a pioneering step by becoming the only CGL outfit to launch a structured Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiative dedicated to nurturing underprivileged golfing talent and supporting youngsters from economically weaker sections (EWS). Details of the initiative were announced at a press meet held at CGA Golf  Range, Chandigarh.

“Golf, an Olympic sport once synonymous with Chandigarh as India’s golfing capital, lies at the heart of this effort,” said Gurnav Bhatti, Team Owner, GB Legends. “Talent deserves opportunity, not privilege. With GB Legends, we aim to democratize access and prepare a pool of champions for the 2028 Olympics.”

Backed by GB Realty, the initiative goes beyond competitive play. It is designed to identify and mentor raw talent; provide access to world-class coaching and resources, and create a sustainable, inclusive golf ecosystem in Chandigarh.

Co-owner of GB Legends Jatinder Singh Bajwa emphasized, “Our vision is to make golf more inclusive. By supporting youngsters from humble backgrounds, we are not just shaping careers, but also giving back to a community that has long nurtured this sport.”

Under the programme, the team is mentoring talents such as Saurav Das, son of a canteen helper, and Sukhleen Kaur, daughter of a domestic helper and a promising athlete. Alongside them, Roopwant Singh Mattu, Rudraj Diwan, and Raza Kaur are receiving professional coaching, tournament fee support, and equipment assistance.

Fitness trainer - Sagar Diwan, physiotherapist – Dr Sidharth Bansal and trainer – Akash too are part of the core training team. Cdr (Dr) Vimal Vibhakar, a renowned surgeon and sports medicine consultant is also offering his services to the team.

Vice-Captain Dr Ravisher Toor underlined, “This is not just about competition but is about creating complete athletes. With structured support in coaching, fitness, psychology, and mentorship, we are preparing future champions who can reclaim Chandigarh’s place on India’s golfing map.”

Notably, Saguna Jain the woman team member of GB Legends and its oldest member Col Gurjit Singh too were present at the press meet.

Meanwhile, the unique aspect of the programme is its coaching team: Ranjit Singh, Harendra Gupta, and Akshay Sharma —all caddy-turned-professionals—symbolizing GB Legends’ commitment to empowering grassroots contributors to the game.

Amit Sood, CEO, GB Legends, added, “True legacy is built when success is shared. At GB Legends, we are balancing performance with purpose, proving that champions are created not just on the course but in life.”

Harpuneet Sandhu, Council Member, Indian Golf Union (IGU), stressed, “This is a long-term commitment. The initiative is not just about competitive strength. It is about building a community where aspiring golfers can learn, grow, and rise as champions.”
