Mohali/Chandigarh, November 12: In today’s fixtures Vivek High School, Mohali a displaying a commendable performance, has reached in the finals of two age categories in the 10th Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball Trophy being played at GMADA Sports Complex, Sector 78, Mohali. In the semi-final of under 17
boys’ category, Vivek High School, Mohali defeated LPS Mohali by a slender margin of 27-25. In a close encounter Vivek boys kept their cool till the final whistle and finally prevailed upon their formidable rivals in a nail biting finish. Aditya scored 13 points for the winning side while Gurprateek scored 16 points for the losing side.
Saupin’s School Chandigarh defeated St. Joseph School Chandigarh by a margin of 49-35 in an Under 17 Boys category semi-final match. Vedant scored 14 points for Saupin’s School.
In an under 14 boys’ semi-final match team of KV High School High ground marched to the finals with a convincing win over Vivek High School, Chandigarh. For YPS Ankush Kumar proved to be a star performer as he scored 27 points for his team.
In a semi-final match in U 14 boys, YPS, Mohali has defeated Vivek High School Mohali by a margin of 52-31. Atharv was the star performer for YPS as he scored 22 points while Ansh scored 12 points for Vivek.
In an U17 Boys third place match, LPS Mohali, defeated St. Joseph School Chandigarh in a cliff hanger with the close margin of 39-38. Gurprateek scored 28 points for the winners while Navneet scored 23 points for St Joseph.
In an U14 Boys match for third place Vivek High School, Mohali defeated Vivek High School, Chandigarh 25-21. Ansh scored 14 points for the winners and Sanchit scored 8 points for the losing side.
In an U12 Boys category third place match, YPS, Mohali defeated Shemrock School Mohali by a margin of 13-10. Nardarbir scored nine points for the winners.
In the girls' semi-finals, in an U14 match girls from Vivek High School, Mohali advanced to the finals by defeating Shemrock School, Mohali by a huge margin of 25-10. Trasha was the main scorer with 9 points for Vivek.
In Girls Under 12 category, Sacred Heart School Chandigarh defeated St. Anee's School Chandigarh by a margin of 14-6 and advanced to the finals. For winners, Naisha scored all 14 points while Japmehar scored 5 points for St. Anee's.
Meanwhile, matches were also held for 3rd place in the girls' category. In an U17 Girls third place match, LPS Mohali defeated Vivek High School Mohali 27-10. Harneet scored 20 points for winners while Japjee scored 6 points for the losing team.
In the Under 14 Girls third place match, YPS Mohali defeated Shemrock School, Mohali by the margin 28-12. Avantika scored 18 points for the winners. Anshika scored 8 for the fourth placed Shamrock School Mohali.
In an U12 Girls third place match, Manav Mangal School, Mohali defeated St. Anee's School Chandigarh 18-6. Amreen scored 14 points for YPS and Japmehar scored 2 points for St. Anee's.
In the 10th Sardar Bhagwant Singh Memorial Basketball tournament, 70 teams of different schools of the region are participating in various age categories. The tournament will end on November 13 with finals being played which shall be followed by the prize distribution ceremony
