Cebu, Philippines Dec 1, 2025: After the onslaught of Typhoon Kalmaegi, widespread flooding has left communities across Cebu struggling to survive. Entire neighborhoods remain submerged in mud, homes and belongings have been destroyed, and thousands of families are displaced in temporary shelters without access to basic necessities.
Due to increased requests for assistance and UNITED SIKHS’ past presence in the Philippines, our humanitarian response team was formally requested by the Mayor of Cebu City to reach out and support the communities hit the hardest. The affected barangays include Bacayan, Sudlon II, Lusaran, Paril, Cambinocot, Guba, Toong, Sapangdaku, and Buot‑Taup.
UNITED SIKHS has mobilized its humanitarian response team to provide immediate relief, visiting affected areas, gathering firsthand reports, and compiling a detailed list of urgently needed supplies requested by local residents.
Immediate Needs at Temporary Shelters Include
• Medical facilities and support
• Essential medicines
• Nutritious food supplies
• Clean drinking water
• Shelter materials and household essentials
Communities are in Crisis
Entire neighborhoods remain submerged in mud as families struggle to reclaim their homes. Properties, belongings, and livelihoods have been destroyed by the floods, leaving thousands displaced in temporary shelters. With limited access to medical care, medicines, food, and clean water, the situation grows more dire each day.
UNITED SIKHS is also engaging with the United Nations to ensure our relief operations are aligned with the UN coordination group, strengthening collaboration and maximizing impact.
Stories from the Ground
• Elders in Need: Large numbers of elders, displaced from their homes, are struggling in temporary shelters without access to essential medicines or proper medical care. Through your support, they are assured the dignity, protection, and care they rightfully deserve
• Children Most Affected: The youngest members of the community have borne the greatest impact. With classrooms destroyed, schools remain closed and education is at a standstill. In shelters, children face heightened risks without nutritious food and clean drinking water. With your help, we safeguard their access to food, safe environments, and education even in times of devastation
• Families Displaced: Thousands of families have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. Your contribution helps them rebuild lives with dignity and hope.
How You Can Help
Our teams are working tirelessly to deliver food, clean water, shelter, and medical supplies. Every contribution helps restore dignity and hope to families who have lost so much.
The devastation in Cebu echoes the suffering witnessed during the recent floods in Panjab – where communities also lost homes, livelihoods, and access to basic necessities. These disasters remind us that the struggle for survival and dignity transcends borders, and your support ensures that families in Cebu receive the same compassion and relief extended to those in Panjab.
