Session on 'Animal Welfare' held at Dev Samaj College of Education

Chandigarh, Oct 5: NSS units and Animal fans club of Dev Samaj college of Education organised a session on 'Animal Welfare' in collaboration with Yuvsatta and Helen Woodward Animal Center. Ms. Haylee Blake, Associate Director of Education, Helen Woodward Animal Center and Ms. Jacqueline Kelleher, Ambassador to the United Nations at Helen Woodward Animal Center, were the chief-speakers on this occasion. The session started with a floral welcome of the resource person by Shri Maanvinder Singh Mangat, Secretary Dev Samaj College of Education and Prof. Prof. Richa Sharma, Officiating Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education.

Drawing on their international experience, both experts highlighted best practices in animal welfare, the global challenges faced by animal protection organisations, and the role that youth and educational institutions can play in promoting humane treatment of animals. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to ask questions and exchange ideas on volunteer opportunities, community campaigns and sustainable solutions for animal care. Participants left with a deeper understanding of animal welfare issues and a renewed motivation to act as responsible citizens. A skit was also presented on the said theme. 


Prof. Richa Sharma, Officiating Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education appreciated the personnel in-charge of NSS program officers and the Animal Fan Club of the college for organising such an informative and enlightening session.
