Chandigarh:In a landmark initiative aimed at enhancing technical education and empowering youth with industry-relevant skills and to create 10,000 jobs in Punjab, five Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Punjab are set for a major transformation and will be providing Jobs to over 5000 Youth annually. Additionally Dr. Sahney is also establishing 3 New World Class Skill Centres in Patiala, Jalandhar and Ludhiana along with the already existing Multi Skill Development Centre of Amritsar, where over 5000 youth will recieve free of cost Skill Training and Jobs annually.Today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Technical Education, Government of Punjab, and Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Padma Shri, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, in august presence of Education Minister Sr. Harjot Singh Bains. As per the MOU Dr. Sahney will be making a contribution of rupees INR 10 Crore towards the upgradation of five ITIs: ITI Ludhiana 2 Crore, ITI Patiala 3 Crore, ITI Mohali- 1.5 Crore, ITI Sunam- 1.66 Crore, and ITI Lalru- 2 Crore.
Dr. Sahney stated that through this initiative he aims to transform these institutions into Skill Centres of Excellence by introducing cutting-edge technology and infrastructure. The upgradation includes the installation of modern machinery such as CNC Turners, Robotic Welders, 3D Printers, the establishment of Skill Development Labs, and renovation of the buildings. Additionally, these centres will be linked with local industries, ensuring a robust industry-connect for placements and apprenticeships for ITI students.
Dr. Sahney also stated that these ITIs will provide 5000 Jobs to the youth of Punjab every year, he is in constant touch with the local industries near all these five ITIs and with the help of Institute Management Committees there will be a robust industrial connect for Placements and Apprenticeships for ITI Students. “I am committed to upgrading these ITIs into Centres of Excellence, which will not only offer top-notch training but will also serve as a bridge between skilled youth and the industries that require their expertise." Dr. Sahney added
Education Minister Sr. Harjot Singh Bains stated that this initiative spearheaded by Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney is a remarkable contribution towards transforming our ITIs into modern hubs of skill development. By introducing cutting-edge technology and industry linkages, these Centres of Excellence will not only enhance the employability of our youth but also help in bridging the skill gap in the local industry, this will open up new avenues for employment and growth in Punjab.
