AMRITSAR, 5 JUNE 2025: Amritsar Mayor Shri Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia Leads the Green Campaign with First Tree Planting
Amritsar, June 5, 2025: To mark World Environment Day, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in partnership with its EPC contractor Joint Stock
Company (JSC), organized a large-scale tree plantation drive in Amritsar. A total of 300 trees were planted under the 2025 national theme — “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” — an initiative encouraging citizens to plant trees in honour of Mother Earth, blending ecological responsibility with cultural reverence.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia, Honourable Mayor of Amritsar, who planted the first sapling and addressed the gathering.
“We all have a collective responsibility to protect and conserve our environment for the next generations,” said the Mayor, Shri Bhatia. “I am delighted that NHAI and JSC have taken this worthy initiative and demonstrated their commitment through action. It is an privilege to be part of this initiative and contribute to such a meaningful cause.”
The tree plantation is part of the larger Spur 3 project, a critical infrastructure development aimed at reducing traffic congestion and enhancing intercity connectivity across Amritsar.
JSC spokesperson said, “World Environment Day is a great reminder of our responsibilities. We are happy to make even a small contribution toward building a greener, more sustainable city with this initiative. It is truly an honour to have the respected Mayor Shri Bhatia Ji lead this green movement and inspire us all with his presence.”
The initiative is a testament to the commitment of NHAI and JSC towards sustainable infrastructure and environmental stewardship. The organizations plan to continue such green interventions throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that economic development and ecological balance go hand in hand.
Spur 3 Project : The Construction of four-lane Greenfield Amritsar connectivity is for the connection of Amritsar with Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway from Junction with NH3 and Taran Taran Bypass near Mannawalla village to Junction with NH354 Ajanala road near Harsh Chinna Village.
