INAUGURATION OF NEW ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK OF WESTERN COMMAND BY DG BSF

Chandigarh:12, October 2022, the new Administrative Block of HQ Special DG, Border Security Force (Western Command) was inaugurated at Industrial Area, Phase-II Chandigarh. The function was presided over by Shri Pankaj Kumar Singh, IPS, Director General, BSF as Chief Guest in the presence of Sh P V Rama Sastry, IPS, Additional DG BSF, Western Command, Sh. S P Chaudhary, Special Director General, CPWD and other senior officers from BSF. 

The Headquarters of BSF Western Command which is responsible for supervising the operational and administrative functioning of Indo-Pakistan border from Gujarat to J&K, will now be shifting to four story building of new office complex at Industrial Area, Phase-II of Chandigarh which is spread over an area of 3 Acres of land allotted to BSF by Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The construction of new Administrative Block and 90 men Jawan barrack was started by CPWD department in the month of July 2018 with laying down of foundation stone by Sh. K K Sharma, the then BSF Director General. The building complex has been meticulously designed with modern state of art infrastructure having all the amenities to accommodate various branches functional under HQ Western Command. In addition to Administrative Block, one Officers’ Mess, three numbers of Type-VI quarters and one Mechanized Transport Section have also been planned to be constructed at present complex. 

After inauguration, DG BSF held a Conference which was attended by officers of the HQ Western Command, besides Inspectors General of Kashmir, Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujrat Frontiers through Video Conferencing System. 

While addressing the audience, DG BSF congratulated all Officers and men of HQ Western Command for having a new office building which he hoped would fulfill all administrative requirements of office functioning. He also praised officials of CPWD for craftsmanship of building and exquisite quality of works. He exhorted all officers and men to work hard for betterment of the Force and evolve strategy to counter new challenges being posed by the forces inimical to the country.
