Power Cuts Have Reduced, Says President of Industries Association of Chandigarh at RAMP Event

Chandigarh, February 13, 2026:* “Power reliability has improved significantly and interruptions have reduced,” said Varinder Singh Saluja, President, Industries Association of Chandigarh, during Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme organised by the Industries Association of Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Industries, UT Chandigarh.

Speaking on the occasion Saluja noted that there has been a visible reduction in power cuts, which has positively impacted industrial productivity. 

The program that placed a strong emphasis on power sector reforms and modernisation of electricity distribution, was attended by Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) Chief Transformation Officer Pramod Kumar Mishra and Chief Network Officer MP Singh, at the PHD Chamber of Commerce here Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Mishra, highlighted the ongoing reforms, network strengthening initiatives, and customer-centric measures being undertaken to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply for industries and residents of Chandigarh.

Participants were also briefed on CPDL’s proactive preparations for the upcoming summer season, a period when electricity demand witnesses a spike. 

Mishra informed that comprehensive pre-summer maintenance of the power network is being carried out to minimise disruptions.

Sharing demand projections, Mishra said that CPDL had successfully met a peak demand of 465 MW last year, and the demand is expected to rise to around 500 MW in the coming season.

He added that several measures have already been put in place to effectively manage the anticipated peak demand. 

CPDL’s future plans for strengthening power infrastructure and ensuring long-term reliability for the city were also outlined during the event. 

During the meeting monthly billing was discussed by Mr Pramod Mishra. He briefed about transition to monthly billing, is as per the guidelines of JERC and part of CPDL’s commitment to modernise its meter reading and billing process, supported by the adoption of technology-led processes and infrastructure upgrades. Monthly billing enables regular meter readings, helping consumers track their electricity consumption, manage household or business expenses associated with longer billing cycles.

President, Industries Association thanked the utility for their participation and sharing their plans and preparedness with industry members.

The program concluded with an interactive session during which the queries of participants were addressed.
