PEC alumna, brings laurels to alma mater and city

Chandigarh, June 29, 2022: Shikha Chaudhry Redhal, daughter of Suresh Kumar Redhal, a retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army, has done her alma mater Punjab Engineering College(PEC)  and Chandigarh proud. She has completed her PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland. Out of many feathers in her cap Shikha also received during her academic endeavours in the USA the 'Outstanding Researcher Award' for the 2020-21 academic year, along with 'Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship 2019'.
Shikha is a proud alumna of the Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, where she did Bachelor of Engineering in aerospace engineering. Upon her graduation, she said: “I wish to work in the research institutions focusing in the advanced propulsion field and further contribute towards the development of next-generation engines for the aerospace industry.” Her goal is to help improve the propulsion systems in the aerospace industry by developing practical, efficient engines for space and aircraft propulsion.

There was more cheer for Shikha's father Suresh Redhal. Apart from his daughter, his son Gaurav Redhal, who is an alumnus of  the Army Institute of Law(AIL), Mohali received his Masters of Law degree in international law from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Boston, USA. Gaurav had completed his Bachelor of Law degree from AIL , wherein he consecutively received Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) scholarship for the academic years 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18.

Gaurav has also been working with an NGO in Chandigarh, named ‘I am Still Human’ since 2015 wherein he engaged in implementing community-wide outreach programs, organizing legal awareness camps for marginalized communities, panel discussions, and blood donation camps at various places across India
