The organisers also wanted to bring to the Haryana government’s notice the future prospects of this sport as a career option for youngsters and as an effective medium to eliminate the prevailing drug menace that is gaining enormous proportions.
“It is for the first time in the history of the Olympics that Breaking has been confirmed as one of four additional sports approved for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The announcement has not only come as a great morale booster for those associated with the game but also those who have high hopes to bring laurels for the country in the sport,” informed Aakansha Gupta, Founder, Viva Dance Studio and Organiser, Street Warriorz competition.
Echoing the same sentiments, B-BOY Tornado, Bronze Medal Winner, All India Qualifier,2022, added, “A couple of years ago, when there were not many dance reality shows, there were not many parents who supported their kids who wanted to pursue a career in Breaking. But now, following the inclusion of Breaking in the Olympics, parents will support their kids since there are chances that they might represent the country like in other sports”

Following the momentous  decision to include Breaking as a sport in the upcoming edition of the Olympics, more than 200 sportspersons between 16-30 years of age, from the North Zone of India including – Tricity (Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali), Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, participated in the competition to showcase their skills. “Leaving a mark in an arena, which is dominated chiefly by men, is indeed a hard nut to crack. Street Warriorz competition is definitely a great platform to showcase my skills and   prove my mettle. I am sure that  the next edition will witness more participation from girls,” said  B-GIRL Aim Style.

The organizers are seeking support from the Government of India and Haryana especially the Sports ministries to recognize the efforts being done by Viva Dance Studio to support those who are preparing to represent the country in the Olympics. “The sport has tremendous potential to engage the youth in productive activities and Viva is trying to create a space for itself and for the sportsmen  in the field to explore their potential in this Olympic sport which is going to see tremendous growth in the coming decade.
