Chandigarh:A Distinguished lecture on “The life of a Protozoal Invader: What we learn from its successes and failures” was jointly organized by Indian Science Congress Association (Chandigarh Chapter), Indian National Science Academy (Chandigarh Chapter), Chandigarh Forum for Science and Technology Communication (CFSTC) and GGDSD College Society, Sector-32-C, Chandigarh. Sh Upkar Krishan Sharma, President, GGDSD Society, Chandigarh talked about the role of scientific community in developing innovative

solutions to deal with the current pandemic. Dr Navneet Batra, Head, Dept of Biotechnology, GGDSD College, Chandigarh welcomed the speakers and participants to the online webinar. Prof R.C. Sobti, INSA fellow and Former Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh welcomed the delegates and introduced the speakers. Dr Chandrima Shaha, President, Indian National Science Academy, talked about the life cycles of parasites with special emphasis on Leishmania parasite. She discussed about the mechanisms of apoptosis and autophagy in pathogens along with the methods to prevent their invasion by vaccination, reducing the entry of pathogens in environment and education to promote behavioral change among the masses.  Dr Krishan Lal, Former President, INSA delivered a presidential remarks keynote address and thanked the eminent speaker, distinguished members and participants. The vote of thanks was given by Prof. Anand Bachhawat, Convener INSA, (Chandigarh Chapter). The Webinar was attended by Faculty, students and researchers from different colleges, universities and research institutions. Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh congratulated the organizers for their endeavour and wished them good luck.
