Contract and outsourcing employees of Chandigarh held a protest at the Masjid Ground in support of pending demands.

Chandigarh, 1 May 2025: All Contractual  Karamchari Sangh Bharat (Regd.), UT Chandigarh organized a big protest in support of pending demands on the occasion of "Labor Day" on 1 May at Masjid Ground, Sector-20.

At the beginning of this program, tribute was also paid to the martyred workers of Chicago in 1886.

Contract, outsourcing employees of Chandigarh, various unions, federations and common citizens participated in this program with their families.

Large numbers of contract and outsourcing employees, contractual employees union, other unions, federations and common citizens present on this occasion protested and raised slogans against the administration for the resolution of long pending demands of contract and outsourcing employees.

Bhupinder Singh Gill, Sajjan Singh, Tarandeep Grewal, Rajkumar Ashok Kumar, Satish Kumar, Poonam Tapriyal, Babita Rawat, Annu Kumar, Dr. Lim Chand, Janardan Yadav, Om Kailash, Vikramjit Singh, Bipin Sher Singh and Raj Chadha from Chandigarh Group etc. participated and addressed this protest.

President Ashok Kumar and General Secretary Satish Kumar said that a meeting was demanded from the administration several times regarding the demands of contract and outsourcing employees, but no positive step has been taken by the Chandigarh administration so far.

Poonam Tapriyal, Senior Vice President of the Employees Union, said that for the last 20-25 years, there is no job security policy for contract and outsourcing employees working in various departments, while in other states a policy has been made in this regard.

Sangh Chairman Bipin Sher Singh said that this struggle is neither about you nor about me - it is about all of us, who are working hard together.

He demanded from the Chandigarh Administration that on the lines of neighboring states, job security should be provided to contract employees appointed under proper procedure and for the protection of outsourcing employees, labor laws, especially CLRA Act 1970 should be strictly followed - which includes important things like equal pay for equal work and abolition of contracting system.

He also demanded to give Basic + DA to the employees working on DC rate of Education Department, seventh pay commission pay scale to contract employees and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan teachers, implementation of rates similar to DC rates for NHM, Special Training Center teachers and Mid Day Meal workers, increase of 15 percent in the existing DC rate and increase the limit of ESI and EPF to Rs 50,000.

Chief Advisor of the Karamchari Sangh, Mr. Chander Jaiswal demanded the administration to ensure job security of temporary employees in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Court in  case of Jaggo Vs Union of India and All Contractual Karamchari Sangh Bharat sent a demand letter to the Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah through the Governor and also demanded a meeting with the Chandigarh Administration soon.

All Contractual Karamchari Sangh Bharat also warned through this protest that if a meeting is not held soon by the Chandigarh Administration regarding the pending demands, then the movement will be intensified and a march will be taken out to the Governor House soon.

He thanked the various unions, federations and residents of Tricity for joining this protest and paying tribute to the martyrs of Chicago.
