Chandigarh, July 14, 2025 – The Budo Kai Du Mixed Martial Arts Federation of India is deeply saddened to announce the untimely demise of its international player, Ekam Veer Singh, who tragically lost his life in a road accident today.
The accident occurred near Phaguwala Kenchiya on the Bathinda-Chandigarh Highway due to a tyre burst. Ekam was the son of a Punjab Police DSP, currently posted in Patiala.
Ekam Veer Singh was set to represent India at an international tournament in London on July 17, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
Federation President Sharanjeet Singh, expressing deep sorrow, said, “It is truly shocking to lose such a promising young athlete in this tragic manner. Ekam was a bright star of the martial arts world, and his demise is an irreplaceable loss to the entire sports fraternity, especially martial arts in India.”
His coach, Ravinder Pal Sharma, remembered Ekamveer as a world-class athlete who had brought immense pride to the country and the federation. “Ekam won numerous gold and silver medals on the international stage. His contribution to the sport was remarkable. The void his loss has created can never be filled. We stand with his family in this hour of grief.”
Throughout his career, Ekam received wide recognition for his achievements. He was honoured with an appreciation letter by Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who commended his outstanding contributions to martial arts. Mohali SSP Amit Sharma had also praised and felicitated him during a public function, acknowledging his discipline, commitment, and international success.
The Budo Kai Du Federation, its athletes, coaches, and the entire sporting community mourn the loss of a true champion. Ekam Veer Singh's legacy will live on through the countless lives he inspired in the world of martial arts.
