Assam Needs You: UNITED SIKHS Responds to Devastating Flood Crisis, Launches Emergency Relief Operations

Assam | July 31, 2026: Days of relentless monsoon rains have turned into a humanitarian catastrophe across Assam, as overflowing rivers breached their banks, submerging villages, destroying homes, schools, and farmland, and cutting off entire communities. Thousands of families have been forced to flee with only what they could carry, while many remain stranded without access to food, clean drinking water, shelter, or medical care.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, UNITED SIKHS has launched emergency relief operations across the flood-affected regions of Assam. Volunteers are on the ground delivering life-saving essentials, including food, drinking water, clothing, hygiene supplies, and medicines to families trapped by rising floodwaters. Initial consignments of emergency relief have already reached several affected districts, ensuring that critical assistance is delivered without delay.

Before departing for Assam, UNITED SIKHS volunteers gathered in prayer, seeking strength and guidance as they prepared to serve those affected by the disaster. Guided by the Sikh principles of Sarbat da Bhala (the welfare of all) and selfless service, the teams are working tirelessly to reach the most vulnerable communities.

Pritam Singh, International Humanitarian Aid Director, UNITED SIKHS, said:
"The people of Assam are facing one of the most challenging humanitarian crises in recent years. Our volunteers are on the ground, delivering essential relief to families who have lost everything. At UNITED SIKHS, we believe humanitarian service does not end with emergency aid. We remain committed to standing beside affected communities throughout their recovery—helping rebuild homes, restoring livelihoods, and bringing hope where it is needed most. We appeal to individuals, organizations, and the global community to join us in supporting the people of Assam during this difficult time. Together, we can make a meaningful difference."

The devastating floods have not only displaced thousands of families but have also destroyed livelihoods, damaged agricultural land, and disrupted education and essential public services. As communities begin to assess the scale of the destruction, the need for sustained humanitarian assistance has become more urgent than ever.

Drawing on its extensive experience in flood response and long-term rehabilitation in Panjab, UNITED SIKHS is committed to supporting Assam beyond the immediate emergency phase. In previous flood-affected regions, the organization remained on the ground long after floodwaters receded—helping rebuild homes, restore farmland, rehabilitate communities, and provide long-term support to affected families. The same commitment now extends to Assam, ensuring that recovery is driven by dignity, resilience, and hope.
