Chandigarh:As an initiative blending fitness with digital banking awareness, the Office of the Reserve Bank Ombudsman, Chandigarh today organized a Marathon for Safe Digital Banking at the Eiffel Tower Replica, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The event was part of the ongoing efforts of the Reserve Bank to spread awareness about the Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme 2021 and safe digital banking practices.
The event was flagged off by Rajeev Dwivedi, Ombudsman, in the presence of the Navin K Adarsh, Deputy Ombudsman and senior officers of RBI Chandigarh. Addressing the participants, RBI Ombudsman emphasized the rising incidence of digital financial frauds and the urgent need of behavioural awareness among bank customers. “Even the most educated professionals are falling prey to sophisticated scams. The root cause of these frauds, in most cases, lies in negligent behaviour, driven by fear, urgency, or greed,” the RBI Ombudsman remarked.
The participants were sensitized about the most common modus operandi of fraudsters, including fear of digital arrest and luring through investment proposals, etc. Practical advice on Do’s and Don’ts was shared with the runners, who were also urged to report suspicious calls or phishing links on www.sancharsaarthi.gov.in.
