Doing every activity from home- resting to working -- was not easy; so, new trends of modifications came up due to the demand of the time and situation. Some of the new trends in residential seem to be poles apart from the existing ones.
Nowadays, people prefer homes in gated communities over builder floors in crowded places. Post-COVID, the preference is picked out by people after considering the amenities provided by most of the societies that include security, safety, recreation, and shelter all at the same time. People are adoring work from home culture and demand of home office is the new instruction by buyers. The office is demanded in such a way that it becomes an isolated place to increase the working efficiency.  This is how, the sector also witnessed a new segment of 3.5 BHK and 4.5 BHK homes where people wanted an extra 0.5 room to convert into an office. While adding a half room, a study room, or a balcony does not dramatically increase the product cost, it does boost the project's marketability in the current environment.

Among other things, a home office, yoga space inside the house, and a small gym area are in high demand. People want to live, exercise, and enjoy in new ways. These deciding variables shifted consumer perceptions, resulting in a surge in demand for larger and better homes.

Prateek Mittal, Executive Director, Sushma Group & IIT Alumnus, said “After the Covid-19, people have become more definite and are currently looking for spacious and their desirable homes that provide greater space and a healthier environment; accordingly, they are taking a call on the configuration of the home. Overall, the scenario is becoming favorable for larger homes that are capable of providing healthier and safer amenities to the residents. Moreover, we are expecting that this year the sales could be spiked up by 30-40% as comparative to the last festive season.”

Elucidating on the new trends of residential designs LC Mittal, Director, Motia, said, “Since the global pandemic has changed a lot of things in life. There are noticeable changes in the lifestyle too. As the situation has changed there is a refashioning of demand of designs into the bargain. Work from home was followed during the lockdown, and now most of the people are adoring work from home culture. The most prominent trend is people's migration to locations that are a little removed from the daily grind. The real estate sector has also taken it upon itself to accommodate the demand, increasing the launches meeting the new standards.”
