GGDSD College Concludes Virtual Seven Day FDP on 'Re-Engineering the Role of Teachers as Mentors’

Chandigarh:A virtual 7-Day National Faculty Development Programme was organised by HRDC, PU in collaboration with Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh from 22-28 July 2021. The theme of the faculty development programme (FDP) was 'Re-engineering the Role of Teachers as Mentors'. A total of 17 sessions were conducted with an aim to enable faculty from institutions of higher education to act not only as disseminators of knowledge, but as mentors to their students.

 

The Valedictory Session was presided by President, Sh Upkar K Sharma, GGDSD College Society. Dr. Jayanti Dutta, Deputy Director, HRDC, PU, Chandigarh congratulated the team on the successful completion of the FDP. She encouraged the teaching faculty to continue upgrading their skills as per the changing times. Mr. Prem Ojha, Group CEO of Fastway Transmission PVT. LTD. was the Guest of Honour for the session. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, while addressing the participants emphasised the importance of holistic development and the role every teacher plays in creating a conducive environment for students to be motivated to perform better in life. The organiser of the workshop, Dr. Monica Sachdeva, Department of Commerce and Management, GGDSD College, Chandigarh presented the report of the programme, which witnessed a total of 40 faculty members from across the length and breadth of country took part enthusiastically. 

 The keynote address on Day 1 was delivered by Dr. Tapan Sarkar, Associate Professor, Director of Engagement and Innovation Ethics Advisor, Griffith University, Australia. The speaker line up included Dr. Edamama Prasad, Core Member, Teaching Learning Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Tamil Nadu, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Group Leader, Mondelez India, Maharashtra, Dr. Ashish Arora from Germany, Dr Sachin Kumar, Prof. K Srinivas, Head, ICT & Project Management, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Government of India, Ministry of Education, New Delhi, EV Swami Nathan, Corporate Trainer and Motivational Speaker, Mr. Avinash Kumar Singh, Head, International Sales, Max Specialty Films Limited, Dr. Vinay Singh, working as a senior data science manager, Germany, Mr Ramesh Kumar and a scientist, Dr. Ramajayam G.

Technical Sessions were conducted on a wide range of topics which included Critical Thinking and Systems Thinking in Management and Leadership, Business Canvas Model: Tool for Mentoring Students, Teachers as Career Facilitators, Re-Engineering Mind and manage challenges positively even in the time of pandemic, Building The Competencies Of Teachers In Blended Learning Environment: A Step By Step Approach, Paradigm Shift In Teaching And Research Pedagogy During Pandemic. The FDP delved upon aspects of entrepreneurship to development of mental strength and emotional intelligence to deal with the present pandemic era. Over the seven days the participants connected over virtual network and gave a renewed meaning to 're-engineering the role of teaching community' in a globalised world.
