Holds career counselling session for city students
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh organised an interactive online career counselling session on “Career in Media and Entertainment Industry”. Media professional’s RJ Ricky, My FM Harleen Minocha, Senior Journalist, Deccan Chronical and Naveen Sharma, Regional Technical Head, MYFM were the resources persons on the occasion.
The college is set to introduce the skill based B.Voc degree course in Media and Entertainment in the forthcoming 2021-22 session. The three-year course aims to equip students with the requisite skills required to assume various roles in the industry. Dr. Priya Chadha, HoD,
Department of journalism said, “The course includes very relevant modules such as mobile journalism, TV and Radio production, Print media, Script writing, Advertising, Public Relations among a few. It will focus on experiential learning by way of case studies, projects, interactions with media professionals
and internships.” Dr. Divya Jyoti Randev, Assistant Professor of journalism explained the benefits of a vocational course that aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and academic practice.
Ms. Harleen Minocha explained that one needs to develop confidence, sense of curiosity, empathy finesse in writing and networking skills to become a successful media journalist. She also emphasised the importance of internships during graduation. RJ Ricky and Mr. Naveen Sharma further explained the nature of radio. They explained that it takes a whole team to produce a successful programme even though the RJ may be the voice of the channel. RJ Ricky explained that it is very good essential to connected to the people of the city.
