Chandigarh,,,An online Industry Lecture cum Interaction Programme on “Retailing and Logistics during the Pandemic and Future Prospects” was conducted for the students of B.Voc (Retail Management) and B.Voc (Logistics Management) on 13 Feb 2021, followed by a Question & Answer session.
Mr Vinod Dhingra, Manager (HR), Future Retail Limited (Big Bazaar) was the resource person for the lecture. Mr Vinod looks after HR Operations at Big Bazaar stores in Chandigarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh regions.
During the lecture, Mr Vinod Dhingra focused on how the pandemic affected the operations of Big Bazaar stores, what kind of difficulties were faced in the retail sector, how they were countered, what exactly happened at the ground level and what the way forward looks like.
Specifically, the resource person explained the various challenges faced by the retail and logistics sector. He went on to elaborate on the upcoming career prospects in the retail and logistics industries especially in the context of the online marketing and selling as a result of pandemic. Mr. Dhingra placed special emphasis on the job opportunities available in the banking sector post pandemic and the role of online /e-commerce channels. Other topics covered during the session included challenges faced by logistics industry, fashion retail stores, emergence of online apps for managing orders and delivery, loss suffered by retail stories and opportunities generated during the pandemic for retail industry.
Dr Balraj Thapar, Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh said that such programs are quite useful for students and will help them gain valuable exposure about the intricacies and latest developments taking place in the retail and logistics industry, especially after the pandemic situation.
